Why play bowls?


Bowling is an anaerobic type of physical exercise, that helps in burning calories and works muscle groups not usually exercised. The flexing and stretching in bowling works tendons, joints, ligaments, and muscles in the arms and promotes weight loss. [Wikipedia]

 

During an average game you will:

• Bend more than 40 times.

• Walk approximately 1,260 metres.

• Swing your arm more than 40 times to deliver a bowl weighing more than three pounds.


What equipment and clothing do I need.

The Club has a number of sets of different size bowls for new players to use until they find out what suits them.

Regulation Bowling shoes must be worn on the green at all times and the Club also has numerous pairs of different sizes for you to borrow free of charge.

The club will help you with advice once your ready to order clothing & equipment.

Once you start coming to rollups then white shirts must be worn.
